A recent article in the Bermuda News stated a couple of weeks ago The Millennium ferry experienced a malfunction to one of its four main engines on Wednesday May 27th, the Department of Marine and Ports said. “Due to the loss of one engine, along with the inclement weather which the island experienced at the end of last week, the Millennium was not able to operate as scheduled through to Friday May 29th”, a spokesperson said. “A plan is underway to effect repairs as soon as possible and contingencies have been made to replace the vessel on route when the repairs commence if so required.”
Could this have been due to poor fuel quality? It’s a more likely scenario than you might think. Marine engine malfunctions are commonly caused by fuel quality issues such as water and/or microbial contamination, which can degrade fuel, corrode tanks and injector systems, and clog fuel filters. These are just a few of the problems that our Slipstream Premium Marine Fuel prevents — minimizing downtime and repair costs and maximizing fuel efficiency and engine performance.
