Cold-Weather Conditioner for Ultra-Low Sulfur Heating Oil & Biodiesel Blends

Formulated for Outdoor Tanks

Frigid winter temperatures can place significant stress on ultra-low sulfur heating oil (ULSHO) and biodiesel blends stored in outdoor tanks or unheated spaces. As temperatures drop, fuel can thicken, wax, or gel—leading to restricted flow, clogged filters and fuel lines, and unexpected service calls.

Keeping Fuel Flowing

HeatDoc™ SZP is a field-proven fuel additive that keeps heating oil flowing reliably—even in the coldest conditions. Like HeatDoc ASC, it combines a stabilizer, corrosion inhibitor, dispersant, and yellow-metal deactivator for cleaner, more reliable fuel.

Enhancing Performance & Reliability

Formulated specifically for outdoor storage tanks, SZP also contains a pour-point depressant and jet-fuel-type deicer to enhance performance and reliability when it matters most.

Protecting Fuel Without Kerosene Blending

Unlike other cold-flow treatments, SZP doesn’t require kerosene to improve fuel performance and stability. It offers cold-weather protection without sacrificing BTUs, equipment life, or dealer margins—something kerosene blending simply cannot compete against.

HeatDoc SZP:
Key Components

Working together, SZP’s key components improve fuel cleanliness, enhance storage stability, and protect heating systems—resulting in a reliable, high-value solution.

  • Improving low-temperature flow.

SZP’s pour-point depressant lowers the temperature at which ULSHO and biodiesel blends solidify, maintaining pourability and preventing fuel gelling and flow restrictions during extreme cold snaps.

It also helps reduce wax buildup on filters and in fuel lines, minimizing no-heat calls, emergency service interruptions, and customer frustration during peak winter demand.

In the off-season, SZP helps stabilize heating fuel, ensuring consistent fuel delivery and combustion performance when it's needed most.

  • Reducing moisture and fuel line and filter icing.

SZP contains a jet-fuel-type de-icer that controls moisture and prevents ice crystal formation in heating-oil blends, maintaining fuel flow in outdoor tanks and exposed lines when temperatures plunge. This helps prevent filters from plugging, keeps fuel flowing, and allows burners to operate as designed. The result is more consistent heat output and fewer equipment issues and service interruptions.

If the aviation industry relies on this de-icing strategy at 37,000 feet, you can be confident your systems will be well protected.

  • Preserving fuel quality from storage to combustion.

The stabilizer is unique in that it preserves both sides of blended fuel—preventing oxidation and degradation in the distillate (ULSD/heating oil) portion, and protecting the biodiesel fraction against acid formation and oxidative instability. This decreases gum, varnish, and sludge formation, resulting in cleaner-burning fuel, reduced filter plugging, and enhanced performance throughout the heating season.

  • Controlling contaminants before they become problems.

The dispersant keeps sludge contaminants finely suspended in the fuel, allowing them to pass harmlessly through the system and be consumed during normal combustion. This results in cleaner fuel systems, fewer service interruptions, and more reliable fuel flow.

  • Protecting tanks, lines, and system components.

The corrosion inhibitor forms a protective barrier on metal surfaces, helping prevent rust and deterioration caused by water and acidic byproducts. This helps extend equipment life, reduce maintenance issues, and improve long-term storage integrity.

  • Neutralizing the catalytic effects of copper and brass components.

Copper and brass heating system components can catalyze fuel oxidation, leading to the formation of deposits. The yellow-metal deactivator neutralizes these catalytic effects, reducing metal-induced fuel degradation, improving fuel stability, and protecting heating equipment.
