Background:

A family-owned business for over 90 years, Button Energy supplies heating oil and on-road and off-road diesel to residential and commercial customers throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.  

Problem:

“We occasionally dealt with diesel fuel gelling issues that led to service calls and customer complaints during extreme cold weather,” explains Ed Kovack, Button Energy General Manager.  When this problem threatened Button Energy’s ability to deliver quality fuel to customers when they needed it most, the company turned to Advanced Fuel Systems for help.

Testing:

After running lab tests on their fuel, AFS Territory Manager Tim Porter recommended our Optimum Performance Technology (OPT) Winter CFI (Cold Flow Improver) and SZP fuel additives. 

Solution:

Engineered with advanced polymers, synergists, and proprietary wax anti-settling components, our OPT CFI diesel fuel additive prevents fuel gelling and filter plugging.  “By ensuring superior flow and stability—even in the harshest cold-weather conditions—this cutting-edge formulation keeps diesel engines running smoothly and efficiently,” Tim explains.  Similarly, our SZP fuel additive lowers the freeze point of heating oil, preventing fuel in outside tanks from solidifying.
